چکیده

11 Retrievals of inherent optical properties (IOPs) and Chlorophyll-a concentration (Chla) was 12 investigated for AVNIR-2 images with 30-m spatial resolution and four bands in the southwest 13 tropical lagoon of New Caledonia. We corrected the atmospheric and sea-surface reflectance 14 iteratively through the retrieval of IOPs. After an additional correction of sea floor reflectance, 15 the estimated IOPs and Chla agreed well with the in situ measurements even in the lagoon 16 areas. This study provides a method to allowing a local optimal estimation of IOPs and Chla 17 with a high resolution sensor by preparation of the candidate spectra for the target areas. 18 19 ird -0 08 62 97 7, v er si on 1 18 S ep 2 01 3 Author manuscript, published in "Applied Optics 52, 2 (2013) 182-198"

Atmospheric correction and inherent optical property estimation in the southwest New Caledonia lagoon using AVNIR-2 high-resolution data.

Retrievals of inherent optical properties (IOPs) and chlorophyll-a concentration (Chla) were investigated for AVNIR-2 images with 30 m spatial resolution and four bands in the southwest tropical lagoon of New Caledonia. We corrected the atmospheric and sea-surface reflectance iteratively through the retrieval of IOPs. After an additional correction of seafloor reflectance, the estimated IOPs an...

Classification Metrics for Improved Atmospheric Correction of Multispectral VNIR Imagery

Multispectral visible/near-infrared (VNIR) earth observation satellites, e.g., Ikonos, Quickbird, ALOS AVNIR-2, and DMC, usually acquire imagery in a few (3 - 5) spectral bands. Atmospheric correction is a challenging task for these images because the standard methods require at least one shortwave infrared band (around 1.6 or 2.2 µm) or hyperspectral instruments to derive the aerosol optical t...

Cast Shadow Detection to Quantify the Aerosol Optical Thickness for Atmospheric Correction of High Spatial Resolution Optical Imagery

The atmospheric correction of optical remote sensing data requires the determination of aerosol and gas optical properties. A method is presented which allows the detection of the aerosol scattering effects from optical remote sensing data at spatial sampling intervals below 5 m in cloud-free situations from cast shadow pixels. The derived aerosol optical thickness distribution is used for impr...

Investigation of the Relation between South and Southwest Iran's Heavy Rainfall with Atmospheric Rivers (ARs).

In this study, we tried to identify the sources of moisture and its direction of heavy rainfall in south and southwest of Iran by using a new algorithm based on atmospheric rivers. For this purpose, daily rainfall of 17 synoptic stations in the period 1986 to 2015 in south and southwestern Iran that have a common time span and fully cover the study area is used. Also from the data set of the Nat...

Optical Algorithms at Satellite Wavelengths for Total Suspended Matter in Tropical Coastal Waters

Is it possible to derive accurately Total Suspended Matter concentration or its proxy, turbidity, from remote sensing data in tropical coastal lagoon waters? To investigate this question, hyperspectral remote sensing reflectance, turbidity and chlorophyll pigment concentration were measured in three coral reef lagoons. The three sites enabled us to get data over very diverse environments: oligo...
